As a well-known Chinese dining establishment located in Halifax, Jiang Nan Restaurant has won over the taste buds of both locals and tourists with its genuine and delicious cuisine since its establishment in 2016. Specializing in a wide array of classic Chinese dishes, ranging from crispy spring rolls to flavorful stir-fries and fragrant steamed pork and egg soup, each dish is meticulously prepared using only the finest ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. We are currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic Cook to join our team as our restaurant continues to expand. As a Cook, your main responsibilities will include the preparation and cooking of a diverse range of dishes, ensuring that they meet our high-quality standards and satisfy our valued customers. Additionally, you will also be responsible for fulfilling online orders.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook dishes in accordance with the menu and special needs of customers
- Ensure that all dishes are of high quality and authentic, following established recipes and standards.
- Determine food inventory needs and control food wastage to cut costs.
- Unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
- Clean and maintain the kitchen and cooking areas.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, adhering to proper hygiene practices.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service, as well as fulfill online orders promptly.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to plan menus and create new dishes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school education
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a Cook or in a comparable position within restaurants or catering establishments.
- Familiarity with Chinese culinary methods is is an asset.
- Exceptional physical fitness and endurance are necessary.
- Proficiency in working efficiently within a fast-paced kitchen setting.
- Sound comprehension of food safety and proper handling practices.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
